On December 22, local time, the Italian Competition and Market Authority, the Italian anti-monopoly agency, issued an announcement stating that Apple decided to fine about 98.635 million euros for abusing its dominant position in the market. The Italian antitrust agency determined that since April 2021, Apple has restricted competition in its mobile operating system with regard to the “application tracking transparency” policy enforced by third-party developers providing apps to users through app stores, in violation of section 102 of the EU Operating Treaty.
