Federal Reserve Bank Williams said on Friday that certain “technical factors” may have distorted the November consumer price index data, causing the data to fall below the actual level. Williams said, “There are special practical factors relating to their inability to collect data in October and the first half of November. Because of this, I think some categories of data have been distorted, which may have lowered the CPI data by about 0.1 percentage points.” Williams also said that the US economy is currently in “good shape” and hinted that he “will eventually see” interest rates fall. But he stressed that he is in no hurry to adjust monetary policy.
