Today, the China Meteorological Administration released the meteorological artificial intelligence scientific model “Wind Source” in Xiong'an New Area of Hebei. The model will help improve the capabilities of artificial intelligence weather forecasting models and scientific research on meteorological artificial intelligence by providing an open source science and technology innovation platform. “Wind source” indicates that China's meteorological department has an end-to-end scientific model foundation with independent intellectual property rights, has achieved technical autonomy and control in key areas, and has an engineering foundation for continuous iteration and rolling evolution. The core capability of “Wind Source” is that “Wind Source” V1.0 includes two modules for data assimilation and forecasting, which can directly carry out global weather forecasting based on observed data. Looking forward to the future, “Wind Source” will closely use artificial intelligence to enhance the ability to capture extreme weather, especially short-term near weather; focus on scenarios such as low-altitude economy, energy security, transportation logistics, and health weather to better serve economic and social development; expand international space to promote the application of meteorological artificial intelligence achievements in the joint construction of “Belt and Road” countries; play the diverse innovative role of the Meteorological Science and Education Integration Innovation Alliance to strengthen exchanges and collaboration among key AI innovation teams.
