At the 2025 PV Industry Annual Conference held on December 17, Chen Fei, an analyst in the photovoltaic industry chain of Ruizide Energy, said that from 2025 to 2035, global data center electricity demand is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 11%, while China is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 10.5%. Chen Fei said that data centers currently account for a relatively small share of global electricity demand, about 1.5%. This ratio will increase to 4% by 2035, with an overall increase of 1,100 terawatt-hours. Looking at the global subregions, Chen Fei explained that data center energy consumption growth was led by the US, followed by China and Europe. According to smart energy estimates, the US will account for 40% to 50% of the 450 TWh electricity demand for data centers in 2025, China will account for 20% to 25%, and Europe will account for about 20%.
