From December 12 to 16, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, visited the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. After the visit, I was interviewed by Chinese media. Reporter: During this visit, all three countries emphasized adhering to the one-China principle and firmly supporting China in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This is in stark contrast to the perverse practices of very few countries. How does the Chinese side evaluate it? Wang Yi: During my visit, I introduced the historical facts and legal principles of the Taiwan issue to the three countries, showing that China resolutely opposes interference in China's internal affairs by current Japanese leaders on the Taiwan issue. The three countries reaffirm their adherence to the one-China principle, and their firm support for China in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supporting China in achieving national reunification. An Arab friend said it well. Opposing “Taiwan independence,” supporting China in maintaining its territorial integrity is a matter of course. And condoning “Taiwan independence” will allow all kinds of international separatist forces to disrupt the world. Mutual support for each other's core interests is the historical foundation and political undertone of Sino-Arab friendship. The Arab nation, like the Chinese nation, has been oppressed by colonial rule, and is even more sympathetic to China. The Arab side supports China's proper position on the Taiwan issue, and it also upholds the basic rules of international relations, proving that the one-China principle is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War. Back then, Japanese militarism blatantly launched a war of aggression against foreign countries under the guise of a so-called “existential crisis situation.” This historical lesson must never be repeated. All countries in the world that value peace must be highly alert to the rise of militarism and fascism, and must resolutely stop words and actions that seek to promote colonial aggression.
