Chen Guoji: Nearly 500 I&T companies are planning to settle in Hong Kong or expand their business in Hong Kong

The Zhitong Finance App learned that the “2025 Technology+New Quality Productivity Summit” will be held on Tuesday (December 16). Acting Chief Executive Chan Kwok-ki said that the country's “15th Five-Year Plan” clearly supports Hong Kong's construction of an international innovation and technology center. The SAR government will give full play to Hong Kong's role as a bridge between internal and external communication, attract enterprises with cutting-edge technology and advanced scientific research capabilities to settle in Hong Kong and expand the local innovation and technology ecosystem. By the end of October this year, nearly 500 innovative and technological enterprises with potential or leading positions in furniture are planning to settle in Hong Kong or expand their business in Hong Kong. I believe more companies will work with Hong Kong to cultivate new quality productivity in the future.

Chen Guoji pointed out that every effort is being made to reshape the layout of public scientific research institutions, focusing on cutting-edge science and technology fields that are key development between the country and Hong Kong, and is actively promoting the construction of life and health research institutes, promoting cross-institutional and interdisciplinary scientific research cooperation, and attracting high-end talents from home and abroad to gather in Hong Kong. The HKSAR Government will establish the Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Institute next year to guide and assist the innovation and application of artificial intelligence technology and inject momentum into economic and social development.

Chen Guoji pointed out that the SAR government actively connects with the national strategy and uses innovation and technology as an important engine for economic development. It will continue to improve the innovation and technology policy system and inject new impetus into the Hong Kong economy for high-quality development.
