Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economy, Sialor Peter, said in the capital Budapest on December 11 that according to the agreement already reached, Hungary will buy 800 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in the next two years. At a press conference with visiting Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov on the same day, Sialor said that the Hungarian Electric Power Company and the National Petroleum Company of Azerbaijan signed a framework agreement to pave the way for Hungary to buy 1.1 million cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan every day for the next two years, and the actual purchase volume will be determined according to market conditions. Sialdo also said that Azerbaijan has allowed the Hungarian Electric Power Company and the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company to become shareholders in its oil and gas fields, and the two countries are expected to reach more energy cooperation agreements in the near future.
