Microsoft to Face Overcharging Allegations in GBP2.1 Billion UK Class Action

11:28 PM EST, 12/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Microsoft (MSF.F) is facing allegations of using "a coherent abusive strategy" to assert its dominant position the UK's cloud computing market, Reuters reported Thursday. On behalf of nearly 60,000 businesses, competition lawyer Maria Luisa Stasi is seeking certification from the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London to proceed with the 2.1 billion-pound sterling lawsuit. The class action alleges that the technology giant overcharged UK businesses for running Windows Server on rival clouds of Amazon (AMZ.F), Alphabet's (ABEA.F) Google, and Alibaba by making the software cheaper on its own Azure platform. Microsoft said the case should be dismissed, arguing it is a vertically integrated business that licenses products to competitors to support market competition. The issue is also under review in Europe and the US. Microsoft did not immediately comment to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
