UK Partners with Google DeepMind for AI Use in Energy, Public Services, Science

05:42 AM EST, 12/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The UK government entered into a new partnership with Alphabet (ABEA.F) unit Google DeepMind for the use of artificial intelligence in energy, public services, and scientific discovery. The memorandum of understanding, which will be active for 36 months, includes the establishment of the AI company's first automated research lab in the UK in 2026, according to a Thursday release. The lab will be fully integrated with Google's AI tool, Gemini. The partnership could also result in AI-enabled research in areas such as fusion energy, a potential new AI system called Gemini for Government to cut bureaucracy, and the integration of Gemini in education.
