France and Germany continue to disagree over Europe's sixth-generation fighter project. Germany's largest trade union organization, the German Metals Industry Union, warned a few days ago that if France's Dassault Aircraft Manufacturing Company continues to participate in the project, the trade union will stop cooperating. According to reports, Jürgen Kerner, a senior leader of the German Metals Industry Union, sent a letter to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Finance Minister Lars Klinbaier on the 8th, calling for Dassault to be “evicted” from the European sixth-generation fighter project. The European sixth-generation fighter “Future Air Warfare System” project was launched in 2017. It was jointly developed by France, Germany, and Spain. The goal is to develop a new generation of fighter jets and supporting drone systems by 2040 to replace the French “Rafale” fighter and the “Typhoon” fighter jointly developed by Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
