Intel lost a lawsuit against an antitrust fine of 376 million euros imposed by the European Union two years ago for blocking competitors, but Europe's second highest court cut the fine by one-third. The fine involved Intel's payments to HP, Acer, etc. between November 2002 and December 2006 to prevent or delay the launch of competitors' products. The court upheld the European Commission's 2023 decision against Intel, but reduced the fine by around 140 million euros. The judge said that the €237 million fine more appropriately reflects the seriousness and duration of the violations involved, the number of computers affected by Intel's restrictions is relatively limited, and there is a 12-month gap between certain anti-competitive acts.
