The British Trade Secretary will go to the US to conduct trade negotiations this week. Earlier, the British side announced that it had reached an agreement promising to pay a higher purchase price for new US drugs in exchange for the complete cancellation of tariffs on pharmaceutical products between the two countries. In May of this year, Britain became the first country to reach an agreement with the US to reduce part of the Trump administration's tariffs, but the implementation process of the agreement was slow, and it adopted a model of gradual progress by industry. Although the agreement has reduced the tariff burden on British automakers, the final plan has not been finalized in the tariff relief negotiations in the steel sector; no further details have been disclosed on the exact entry into force of the pharmaceutical industry framework agreement reached just last week. British Commerce and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle said before his visit: “The purpose of this visit to the US is to translate the vision of cooperation into practical action — promoting the implementation of bilateral trade agreements while seeking investment that can drive economic growth.”
