Recently, the Lenovo Group has been making frequent moves in the field of enterprise storage. According to public information, Lenovo won the bid for a key high-performance storage project of the Xiaomi Group for about 148 million yuan, and may provide core equipment and technical support for the expansion of its data center and upgrade of cloud service capabilities. Meanwhile, Lenovo's agreement to acquire high-end storage provider Infinidat is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month, completing its expansion layout in the global infrastructure business.

Recently, Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. announced the winning bid results for the “High Performance Storage Server Procurement Project”. Lenovo (Beijing) Information Technology Co., Ltd. ranked first as the first candidate with a price of 148 million yuan, highlighting its competitiveness in the enterprise storage market. What is behind winning the bid this time is the accelerated implementation of Lenovo's layout in the field of high-performance storage servers.

In January 2025, Lenovo officially announced the acquisition of high-end storage vendor Infinidat, and the deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Infinidat's Chief Marketing Officer Eric Herzog (Eric Herzog) revealed that after the merger and acquisition, its team and core technology will be merged into Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), focusing on improving service capabilities in the financial, medical and other industries, and providing autonomous and controlled solutions for government and enterprise innovation needs. As the “leader” of Gartner's storage magic quadrant, Infinidat has core technologies such as 100% system availability, 35 microsecond low latency, and 33PB single rack capacity, which can directly complement Lenovo's storage capabilities in key industries such as finance, healthcare, government and enterprise.

Lenovo has long occupied a leading position in the AI server field. After the wholly-owned acquisition of Infinidat, it will help it make up for the shortcomings of high-end storage and create an integrated solution of “computing power+storage+RAG data service”. This technology integration will strengthen Lenovo's competitiveness in the field of AI infrastructure.

Currently, the global storage market is shifting from “capacity expansion” to “equal emphasis on performance and energy efficiency”. AI technology is deeply integrated with the storage industry, driving the industry into a new growth cycle. In September of this year, J.P. Morgan drastically raised the global storage market size forecast, raised the global storage market overall effective market size (TAM) forecast from 2025 to 2026 by 6% to 24%, and is expected to reach nearly 300 billion US dollars by 2027. As stated in its report, “The Hunger Games for Storage” will continue to explode, and demand for high-performance storage will continue to explode, bringing huge room for growth to the industry.
