Ageas said in a same-day release that the deal to take full ownership of AG Insurance is part of its strategic goals under the Elevate27 strategy, consolidating its position in the Belgian market. As part of the deal, BNP Paribas' insurance subsidiary BNP Paribas Cardif will increase its stake in Ageas to 22.5% from 14.9% for 1.1 billion euros. The transactions are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. BNP Paribas and AG Insurance will also form a new 15-year investment partnership on distribution and asset management in Belgium that will commence in 2027.
