ECB Governing Council member Oli Rehn said on Saturday that although price increases have returned to the ECB's target range of 2%, inflation in the Eurozone still faces downside risks in the medium term. In an interview with an Italian magazine, he said that from a peak of 10.6% in October 2022 to the current decline of about 2%, this process has not led to large-scale unemployment or a serious economic slowdown. He said, “The good news is that the inflation rate has stabilized near the symmetric target of 2% set by the ECB, thus guaranteeing the real income of Europeans. Our latest forecast shows that the inflation rate will be slightly less than 2% for some time to come.”
