Britain and Germany announced on the 5th that they will deepen cooperation in technology and innovation, and jointly invest 14 million pounds to promote research and development of quantum technology and unlock the application potential of this technology in the fields of medicine, computing, and cybersecurity. According to the British government, the funding for this cooperation will be used for two parts: the establishment of a joint fund for quantum research and development between Britain and Germany, with the relevant institutions of the two countries each funded by half, and is expected to start the project application in early 2026; and supporting the German Fraunhofer Institute's Applied Photonics Center in Glasgow, England, to promote quantum technology from laboratories to commercial applications.
