Valmet to Convert Fortum's Combined Heat, Power Plant to Biomass

03:16 AM EST, 12/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Valmet (VALMT.HE) secured a contract from Nordic energy company Fortum (FORTUM.HE) to supply a boiler fuel conversion for the latter's Zabrze combined heat and power plant in Poland. Under the deal, the Finnish process technology company will replace the plant's coal fuel with forest biomass, according to a Wednesday release. The fuel replacement is part of the 85 million-euro retrofit of the project, which is expected to recommence operation in the last quarter of 2027.
