People’s third quarter 2026 results reflected the ongoing impact of industry-wide shifts in digital media consumption, with management attributing the year-over-year revenue decline primarily to accelerating drops in web traffic from search engines, especially Google. CEO Neil Vogel described a “steepest yet” 26% decline in web sessions linked to Google referrals, which pressured legacy sessions-based advertising revenue. Despite these headwinds, the company highlighted continued growth in newer revenue streams such as licensing, content syndication, and social video, as well as strong free cash flow generation and disciplined cost management, including recent workforce reductions to reallocate resources toward growth priorities.
Looking ahead, management is focused on accelerating growth in non-session-based revenue streams, which include licensing, events, and paid subscription products. Vogel pointed to the success of new subscription models and over 50 social video series as key pillars for future expansion. The company aims to restore digital revenue growth to mid- to high-single digits by 2027, emphasizing product launches, further M&A, and an aggressive push into direct consumer relationships. CFO Tim Quinn stated, “We have planted a lot of seeds that are starting to grow, and we feel very good about a return to good growth.”
Management attributed the revenue miss to deeper-than-anticipated declines in sessions-based web traffic, but emphasized that growth in non-session-based revenue streams is offsetting some of these pressures and positioning the company for long-term diversification.
Management’s outlook for the coming quarters centers on further scaling non-session-based revenues and leveraging their audience reach, while closely monitoring the stabilization of legacy web traffic declines and macro ad market dynamics.
As we assess People’s progress in upcoming quarters, the StockStory team will monitor (1) the pace at which non-session-based revenue streams, such as subscriptions, events, and licensing, scale and contribute to overall growth, (2) whether the decline in legacy sessions-based web traffic stabilizes as management anticipates, and (3) the effectiveness of cost controls and ongoing workforce realignment in supporting margin improvement. Outcomes from Google-related litigation and execution on bolt-on acquisitions will also be meaningful signposts.
