Federated Hermes stock barely budged after its Q3 2026 earnings, ticking up about 0.8% to US$58.48. On the surface that kind of move suggests a routine quarter. The results tell a different story.
The firm posted Q3 basic earnings per share of about US$1.50 and revenue of roughly US$507 million, solid figures for an asset manager that trades on a P/E of 10.3x while peers sit higher. Short term traders may shrug at a flat chart. Long term investors will likely focus on that valuation gap and the steady fee engine behind it.

The upbeat view hinges on fee bearing equity and private markets doing more of the heavy lifting over time.
"The key factor is that growth in equity, ETF, and alternative private markets assets continues to offset periods of softer money market flows and higher operating expenses from acquisitions and expansion."
Federated Hermes is moving in that direction. Record equity AUM of about US$110.5b, strong MDT net inflows of roughly US$3.2b, and alternatives at about US$21.7b are helping revenue while money market assets dipped about US$27b. Expense discipline also showed up with operating costs down about 4% quarter on quarter.
The worry is that heavy exposure to cash products and rising costs eventually choke earnings momentum.
"The company's continued reliance on money market funds for a substantial share of AUM and revenue remains a risk, since recent slippage in money market fund market share and cash flow volatility could translate into weaker money fund related fees, softer total revenue and less support for steady earnings."
Third quarter data gives that concern some backing. Liquidity assets of roughly US$654b still dominate the US$890b complex, market share slipped to about 6.6%, and money market revenue softened as average balances fell. Equity and alternatives helped offset the pressure, but cash products remain a clear swing factor.
