RXO stock barely flinched after its Q3 2026 earnings, slipping only 0.6% to US$27.49 even though the company swung to a small profit. The headline is simple. Revenue reached US$1.87b and net income came in at US$3m, a sharp contrast to the recent run of quarterly losses.
Traders looking at a flat tape may miss the real story. The key issue now is valuation pressure against a still loss-making trailing year and a discounted price to sales ratio versus transport peers. Short-term numbers are stabilising while the longer horizon still raises questions about what investors are paying for.

Supporters of RXO argue that its mix shift and automation will structurally improve profitability.
"Accelerating AI adoption and a transformative LTL mix shift position RXO for sustained margin expansion and outperformance versus industry peers."
Q3 marks a step toward that goal. RXO has now logged a second straight profit and reported adjusted EBITDA that topped expectations, with management pointing to AI tools and higher spot exposure as key drivers of better truckload gross profit per load. Revenue reached US$1.87b and volume guidance sits in low to mid single digits, which supports the idea of improving efficiency rather than pure rate or volume dependence.

Bearish investors worry RXO is overspending on tools that do not translate into durable economics.
"Despite consistent investments exceeding $100 million annually in proprietary technology, there is mounting risk that these expenditures will fail to deliver the anticipated productivity and customer wins, placing pressure on both capital efficiency and sustainable free cash flow generation for RXO."
Q3’s second straight profit and stronger adjusted EBITDA show that tech and AI are at least supporting better truckload gross profit per load. The concern is not resolved. Trailing 12 month net income still shows an US$88m loss and free cash flow progress is not yet clear. With RXO heading into a large, complex C.H. Robinson merger, that spending track record now needs cleaner cash conversion milestones, not just headline revenue growth.
RXO just posted a small quarterly profit while the share price barely moved. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market corrects them.
