Pinterest came into this Q3 2026 report with a stock that has drifted, down about 19% over the past three months, and it slipped another 2.8% to US$19.36 on the day. The market treated the print like a shrug. The numbers told a different story. Revenue reached US$1.174b and monthly active users climbed to 661 million, yet the real plot twist sat in profitability as adjusted EBITDA landed at US$339m with a 29% margin. That gap between share price reaction and profit resilience is what matters now.

Bulls argue that Pinterest’s AI systems should steadily turn intent into more effective ads and stronger performance outcomes.
"Further application of Pinterest’s proprietary AI systems such as PinRec, OmniSage, PinFM and Navigator One to commercial queries could deepen monetization of the 80 billion monthly searches and 1.7 billion outbound clicks, which may support higher revenue density per user session."
Q3 shows partial progress. Visual Search Ads and more lower funnel formats are live, ad impressions climbed 17%, and over half of searches are already commercial. Yet pricing slipped about 4% and revenue growth of 12% with a roughly flat Europe outcome indicates that higher intent has not yet translated into clearly stronger monetization per session worldwide.

Bears worry Pinterest’s AI push could become a cost trap if monetization stalls while GPU spending climbs.
"Although Pinterest Assistant and other AI tools are seeing high commercial intent at low reported model costs, any slowdown in revenue growth alongside heavier GPU and model spending could compress the currently high adjusted EBITDA margin and limit future earnings growth."
The latest quarter edges in that direction. Revenue increased 12% while ad impressions grew faster and pricing fell 4%, and adjusted EBITDA margin slipped 0.3 points to 29%. AI and infrastructure costs are clearly rising. Yet free cash flow of US$300m and full year margin guidance around 30% indicate that cost pressure has not disrupted profitability discipline.
Pinterest just showed how resilient profit metrics can coexist with a muted share price reaction. The real opportunity is spotting stocks that could be undervalued before the market adjusts.
