07:58 AM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The ifo Institute expects the German economy to pick up steam again by the end of 2026 and continue its growth, after the country's gross domestic product expanded by 0.2% in the third quarter. The local consumer economy and industrial activity were affected by higher energy prices and low water levels in Germany's rivers, although the impact was limited, according to a Friday release. "While fiscal policy continues to provide a boost, recovery in the crisis-stricken manufacturing sector is gradually spreading. As a result, companies in the electronics industry and mechanical engineering are benefiting from growing foreign demand and have significantly revised their export forecasts upward," the research institute said. "Private consumption, on the other hand, continues to suffer from inflation, which is expected to pick up again during the winter half-year."
