Statistics released by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority on October 30 showed that both M2 and M3 of the Hong Kong dollar money supply fell 0.8% in September, up 7.5% compared with the same period last year. The seasonally adjusted Hong Kong dollar money supply M1 fell 0.6% in September, and rose 4.4% compared with the same period last year, partly reflecting investment-related activity. The total money supply M2 and M3 both increased by 0.4% in September. Compared with the same period last year, M2 and M3 increased by 10.1% and 10.0% respectively.
