National Bureau of Statistics: In the first three quarters of 2026, cultural enterprises achieved revenue of 10,821 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%

The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, according to a survey of over 83,000 cultural and related industrial enterprises (hereinafter referred to as “cultural enterprises”) across the country, cultural enterprises achieved operating revenue of 10821 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2026, an increase of 4.3% over the previous year on a comparable scale. Among them, 16 industry subcategories [2] with obvious characteristics of the new cultural business format achieved operating revenue of 538.2.7 billion yuan, an increase of 8.9% over the previous year, which is 4.6 percentage points faster than cultural enterprises of all sizes.

By industry type, the cultural manufacturing industry achieved revenue of 2674.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%; the cultural wholesale and retail industry was 1576.9 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.1%; and the cultural services industry was 6569.7 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3%.

By sector, the core cultural sector [3] achieved revenue of 7504.2 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% over the previous year; the culture-related sector was 3316.8 billion yuan, an increase of 2.4%.

By industry category, news and information services achieved revenue of 1633.7 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3%; content creation and production of 2512.9 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1%; creative design services of 2085 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.9%; cultural investment and operation of 41.2 billion yuan, an increase of 11.7%; cultural entertainment and leisure services of 153.5 billion yuan, an increase of 0.3%; cultural auxiliary production and intermediary services of 1167.3 billion yuan, an increase of 4.7%; cultural equipment production of 511.2 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3%; culture Consumer terminal production was 1638.3 billion yuan, the same as the previous year.

Looking at the subregion, cultural enterprises in the eastern region achieved revenue of 8812.3 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year; the central region was 1116.5 billion yuan, an increase of 1.5%; the western region was 804.4 billion yuan, an increase of 2.0%; and the northeast region was 87.7 billion yuan, a decrease of 5.5%.

In the first three quarters, cultural enterprises achieved a total profit of 831.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 7.3%; the profit margin on operating income was 7.69%, down 0.96 percentage points from the previous year. At the end of the third quarter, the total assets of cultural enterprises were 23548.4 billion yuan, up 6.0% year on year; revenue per 100 yuan of assets was 62.0 yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6 yuan.
