Repligen came into Q3 earnings after a strong 3 month run, with the stock up about 24% over 90 days, yet the first trading verdict after the release was harsh. Shares slipped roughly 2.4% to US$175.80 by Monday’s close. That drop jars with the headline print. The bioprocessing specialist delivered record Q3 2026 revenue of US$209.3m and adjusted earnings per share of US$0.53, alongside an adjusted operating margin near 16%. The tension for investors now is simple. The thesis still leans on premium growth, while the latest numbers show a real margin squeeze.

Repligen’s Digital and Modalities Pitch Meets First Tests

Bulls argue that Repligen can turn software, analytics and newer modalities into a higher quality earnings engine that outpaces traditional bioprocessing.

"Digitization of bioprocessing is moving beyond instrumentation into software, with rising PAT attachment rates and a stated path to monetize digital twins and AI tools."

The latest quarter gives that idea some early proof. Analytics posted a record period with about 20% growth and strong process analytical technology attachment, while services under contract climbed roughly 40% year to date. Combined with over 40% growth in proteins and at least 30% expected for chromatography, Repligen is starting to build the mix shift that bullish investors want to see.

Repligen Bear Case: Margin Fear Meets Mixed Evidence

Bearish investors worry Repligen’s pricing power erodes as rivals close the gap and products look more interchangeable.

"Despite the company's increased operating leverage, with gross and EBITDA margins expected to expand in the medium term due to productivity improvements and pricing actions, rising competition and possible commoditization in bioprocessing technologies threaten Repligen's ability to maintain premium pricing or achieve targeted margin gains if differentiation wanes or R&D investments see declining returns."

This quarter does not fully support that concern. Adjusted operating margin improved to about 15.9% and guidance points to 220 to 250 bps expansion for 2026. Record chromatography, proteins and analytics, plus higher service mix, signal differentiation is still converting into pricing and mix benefit, even though filtration weakness and macro caution show execution risk remains.

Hunt For The Next Disconnect

Repligen just reminded investors that share prices and quarterly headlines do not always move in sync. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the market corrects them.

  • Company 1 - 23% below our estimate - designs and supplies liquid cooling and power infrastructure for high wattage AI data centers.
  • Company 2 - 32% below our estimate - tightens its flow control portfolio so higher margin aftermarket and nuclear-linked work can expand.
  • Company 3 - 15% below our estimate - leans into hyperscale data center buildouts as segment backlogs and working capital needs raise execution stakes.
