Landmark Nassau County verdict earns four TopVerdict distinctions, including two national rankings and two Top 10 rankings in New York.

NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf announces that the $60,033,041 medical malpractice verdict obtained in 2025 by partner Marijo C. Adimey, with Aaron M. Ser as second-chair trial counsel, has been ranked #4 among the Top 10 Medical Malpractice Verdicts in the United States in 2025 by TopVerdict.

Marijo C. Adimey’s $60 million medical malpractice verdict has been ranked #4 among the Top 10 Medical Malpractice Verdicts in the United States for 2025 by TopVerdict.
The landmark verdict, secured with attorney Aaron M. Ser, also earned national and New York State rankings across multiple categories, recognizing one of the year's most significant jury awards.
A remarkable achievement that reflects Marijo’s exceptional trial advocacy.

The verdict earned four national and statewide distinctions:

Believed to be the largest medical malpractice verdict in Nassau County history, the award followed a three-week trial in Nassau County Supreme Court. Adimey, as lead trial counsel, and Ser, as second chair, represented a 65-year-old electrical mechanic who suffered permanent paralysis following a routine lumbar epidural steroid injection.

The November 2019 procedure resulted in a spinal cord infarction, leaving the plaintiff with permanent paraplegia, chronic neuropathic pain, and lifelong medical needs.

At trial, Adimey and Ser presented medical imaging and expert testimony challenging the accuracy of the physician's procedural records. The evidence supported allegations that a high-risk medication, absent from the medical records, had been administered during the injection.

The jury returned a unanimous verdict compensating the plaintiff and his family for medical expenses, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and loss of spousal services.

"This was a routine outpatient procedure that should never have led to catastrophic injury," Adimey said following the verdict. "The jury's verdict recognizes the irreparable harm caused to the victim and his family and holds the physician accountable for the negligent conduct."

These TopVerdict distinctions recognize the trial advocacy of Adimey and Ser and reflect the firm's commitment to representing victims of catastrophic injuries and medical malpractice.
