If you were tracking Nordic utilities this past year, the small line item on Elmera Group’s calendar that stood out was its Q2 2026 report showing higher revenue and profit but a thinner net margin than a year earlier. Holding Elmera Group over the past year would have returned 49.7%, including dividends. If that outcome was not knowable in advance, what exactly did buyers think they were paying for when the period began?
A Narrative on Simply Wall St is one investor's written case for a company, with its growth, margin and multiple assumptions spelled out. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The shares cost NOK32.8 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at Elmera Group then had to decide which story sounded more reasonable.
The optimistic Narrative put Fair Value at NOK39, or 19% above the start price. That view leaned on assumptions that revenue could grow 14.2% a year for three years and that margins might rise from 2.7% to 3.5%.
The cautious Narrative pinned Fair Value at NOK26, or 21% below the start price. That camp focused on the risk that annual revenue could decline 3.1% while tighter regulation and higher capital costs compressed profitability.
The clearest datapoint for Elmera Group was the Q2 2026 report. Revenue moved from NOK2,061.16m in Q2 2025 to NOK3,438.997m and net income rose from NOK27.082m to NOK35.299m, which supported the optimistic case on scale. Net margin slipped from 1.3% to 1.0%, so the profitability uplift in that Narrative remained unproven. The evidence cut both ways.
The whole debate turned on whether higher sales would come with richer profitability. When you look at another utility, test that claim directly against future reports by pairing revenue lines with the net margin each period and seeing if both move in the same direction.
Today Elmera Group trades at NOK46.9, after a 49.7% gain over the past year. The selected Narrative argues that its Fair Value sits below the current price, because the share already reflects confident expectations on Nordic expansion, cost control and risk management.
The key question now is what has to keep working. A buyer at today’s price has to judge whether Elmera Group can lift profitability while holding operating expenses roughly flat despite margin pressure from elspot exposure and more complex trading.
"The numbers imply that, even with the 2026 adjusted EBIT target of around NOK 575 million, Elmera Group's current valuation already prices in successful execution on Nordic expansion, cost discipline and risk management, leaving limited room for disappointment in the share price."
