The Saudi and Egyptian stock markets declined on Sunday. Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition said that at a time when the conflict with the Houthis in Yemen was intensifying, the coalition forces had intercepted multiple drones and missiles over Riyadh and southern Saudi Arabia. The Saudi benchmark index fell 2.6% due to full sell-off pressure; the index recorded its worst intraday performance since April 2025, and Saudi Aramco's weighted stock fell 1.1%. Outside the Gulf region, Egypt's blue chip index plummeted 2.5%, approaching its lowest level in about seven months, and all constituent stocks fell. The Egyptian parliament is expected to vote on October 26 to decide whether to authorize the armed forces to support the conflict with the Houthis in Yemen when requested by Saudi Arabia.
