Market forces rained on the parade of Serabi Gold plc (LON:SRB) shareholders today, when the analysts downgraded their forecasts for this year. Revenue and earnings per share (EPS) forecasts were both revised downwards, with analysts seeing grey clouds on the horizon.
Following the downgrade, the latest consensus from Serabi Gold's three analysts is for revenues of US$209m in 2026, which would reflect a solid 8.1% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to soar 24% to US$1.06. Previously, the analysts had been modelling revenues of US$235m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$1.24 in 2026. It looks like analyst sentiment has declined substantially, with a measurable cut to revenue estimates and a real cut to earnings per share numbers as well.

The consensus price target fell 14% to US$5.14, with the weaker earnings outlook clearly leading analyst valuation estimates. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Serabi Gold at US$5.36 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$4.82. With such a narrow range of valuations, analysts apparently share similar views on what they think the business is worth.
These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the Serabi Gold's past performance and to peers in the same industry. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Serabi Gold's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2026 expected to display 8.1% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 26% over the past five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 1.7% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while Serabi Gold's revenue growth is expected to slow, it's still expected to grow faster than the industry itself.
The most important thing to take away is that analysts cut their earnings per share estimates, expecting a clear decline in business conditions. Unfortunately, analysts also downgraded their revenue estimates, although our data indicates revenues are expected to perform better than the wider market. After such a stark change in sentiment from analysts, we'd understand if readers now felt a bit wary of Serabi Gold.
Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Serabi Gold going out to 2028, and you can see them free on our platform here.
