German luxury car brand Audi is experiencing poor sales in other regions of the world, hoping to seek growth in the US market. Audi is also the only German car company that has yet to build a factory in the US. US President Trump announced on Saturday that Audi will build the first US factory in the brand's history in Macon, Georgia. This is another step for a global car company to set up a local layout in the US to cope with declining sales in other markets around the world. At the midterm election campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, Trump said, “I am very happy to announce that this outstanding company will make a huge investment in automobile manufacturing in the great state of Georgia.” Trump said the plant has an annual production capacity of 200,000 cars and construction will begin next month. Audi CEO Gnott Delorne took the stage to join Trump. He said, “We plan to manufacture the largest and highest-end SUV in Macon.” Trump set the size of this investment at 4.2 billion US dollars, calling it the largest single investment in the history of the US automobile industry. Audi has yet to respond to requests for comment, a spokesperson for parent company Volkswagen Group declined to comment, and the White House has not responded to requests for comment.
