Chilean Minister of Economy and Mining Daniel Maas said in an interview during LME Week in London that Chile plans to launch tenders for five new lithium projects after the five existing lithium projects are approved. The goal is to increase annual lithium production from about 300,000 tons to 700,000 tons within 5 to 10 years. Previously, Chile's production target was to reach 430,000 tons by 2034. The 700,000 tons given by Maas is 270,000 tons higher than this figure.
