Enveric Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ:ENVB) reported favorable outcomes from IND-enabling laboratory studies evaluating its primary drug candidate, EB-003.

"These results represent an important milestone in the development of EB-003, provide additional support for its preclinical development profile, and support its continued advancement toward a planned first-in-human clinical trial,” said Joseph Tucker, Director and CEO of Enveric.

"So far, the data generated from our IND-enabling studies have showcased a differentiated pharmacological profile for EB-003, with the potential to preserve certain therapeutic benefits associated with neuroplasticity while minimizing safety concerns and hallucinogenic impacts," Tucker commented.

Promising Laboratory Findings For EB-003

The biotechnology firm confirmed that preclinical absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity testing supported the therapeutic profile of its non-hallucinogenic compound aimed at treating psychiatric and neurological conditions.

The company evaluated EB-003 across a testing battery exceeding 70 individual assays. Results indicated strong intestinal absorption potential in human cell permeability tests alongside low plasma protein binding, supporting balanced bloodstream distribution and clearance.

Furthermore, the molecule showed stability against human and animal liver enzymes while avoiding key kidney and liver transporters, suggesting predictable drug elimination.

Targeting Psychiatric Disorders Without Hallucinations

Assessments also revealed minimal inhibition or induction of primary metabolic enzymes and transporter proteins, reducing the likelihood of negative drug-drug interactions.

Enveric designed the molecule to selectively target both 5-HT2A and 5-HT1B receptors. Through this mechanism, the developer aims to deliver durable, fast-acting antidepressant and anxiolytic relief with outpatient convenience, avoiding hallucinogenic reactions.

ENVB Price Action: Enveric Biosciences shares were down 6.25% at $1.35 during premarket trading on Wednesday. The stock is trading near its 52-week low of $1.17, according to Benzinga Pro data.
