What Investors Got Wrong About Zedcor Before The Drop

If you backed Zedcor for its IoT and AI surveillance story, the recent numbers likely felt jarring. For Zedcor shareholders, the loss from the start of the year was 24.3%, including dividends. If you had bought on 1 January expecting rapid U.S. expansion, rising margins and a richer P/E by 2028, how far did those assumptions account for heavier capital use, a wider credit facility and a quarter where revenue rose but profitability moved into loss?

Zedcor has already moved. See which of 5 high quality undervalued stocks still trade below our estimates.

The Two Stories Investors Were Weighing On Zedcor

The shares cost CA$6.3 at the start of the period, and anyone buying Zedcor then was really choosing between two very different but still plausible stories.

The bullish view saw IoT and AI surveillance as a growth engine and treated a Fair Value of CA$7, a price implied by those upbeat assumptions, as reasonable if revenue rose 70.4% a year and profit margin reached 16.4% within three years.

The more cautious thesis still expected broader U.S. coverage but anchored on a Fair Value of CA$5.6 and flagged the risk that high capital intensity and rapid expansion could weigh on returns even if margins moved toward 17.0%.

What The Results Changed For The Zedcor Story

Zedcor’s decision to expand its credit facility from $75 million to $100 million supported the capital-heavy growth angle and aligned with the optimistic expansion narrative. The same period presented a harsher counterweight. Revenue increased to $22.7 million in Q2 2026 from $13.536 million in Q2 2025, while net income moved from a $0.46 million profit to a $2.292 million loss and net margin declined to -10.1%. The evidence pointed in both directions.

The central assumption was that rapid rollout would be matched by rising profitability. When you assess a similar situation elsewhere, it may be useful to track whether higher borrowing and asset growth coincide with improving net margin and absolute earnings, rather than only a larger top line.

What Zedcor’s Drop Leaves You Paying For Today

With Zedcor now at CA$4.79, the selected Narrative sees Fair Value above that level and ties the gap to recurring, higher margin monitoring and U.S. deployment gaining traction over time.

The fall only looks like an opening if you think tower rollouts, AI monitoring and compliance upgrades can offset capital strain, competition and U.S. margin pressure.

"Rapid expansion of U.S. operations and increasing tower deployment, combined with strong demand from both new and existing customers, positions Zedcor to capture a larger share of a growing North American market for remote security and surveillance solutions, supporting recurring revenue growth."

Another Way To Think About Zedcor

Zedcor focuses on watching assets, but something else must keep those assets powered.

Remote towers, sensors and monitoring gear only matter if electricity stays reliable. When grids struggle under new data and equipment, reliability can become a choke point.

One industrial player concentrates on that challenge. It supplies generation hardware, grid equipment and software that help keep power available and controllable.

As more devices watch more sites, from yards to data hubs, that grid work quietly sets the ceiling on how far systems like Zedcor’s can scale.
