Eli Lilly's Foundayo Recommended for EU Approval in Weight-loss, Type 2 Diabetes

07:12 AM EDT, 10/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly's (LLY.SW) weight loss and type 2 diabetes pill Foundayo was recommended for approval by the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use. The recommendation for weight loss was backed by the results of two studies, where participants lost 5% to 11% of body weight with Foundayo, compared with 2% to 2.5% in the placebo group, according to a Friday note. For type 2 diabetes, the once-daily drug was tested across four studies, where Foundayo reduced HbA1c by 1.2 percentage points to 1.9 percentage points, compared with reductions of 0.4 percentage points to 0.8 percentage points with placebo. The drug is subject to final approval from the European Commission.
