The Korea Development Research Institute, a South Korean state-owned think tank, said on Monday that the dividends of South Korea's economic recovery have not yet been widely spread to the household sector, and the extent of restoration of residents' purchasing power is still limited. The Korea Development Research Institute stated in its monthly economic assessment report: “The recovery of residents' purchasing power has been constrained by supply-side inflationary pressures such as weak basic wage growth and continued high oil prices.” The research institute pointed out that although the current recovery of the Korean economy is being driven by the artificial intelligence industry, the dividends have yet to benefit households. However, the think tank also said that the Korean economy as a whole is still recovering, and manufacturing output continues to grow steadily. “Strong global demand for AI infrastructure investment is driving strong growth in AI-related exports and equipment investment,” the report said.
