The US think tank “American Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis” released a report on October 9 saying that as winter approaches, the EU is facing a crisis of shortage of natural gas supply, which may affect the energy needs of more than 10 million households. Meanwhile, the “European Association of Gas Transmission System Operators” also warned on the 8th that in the event of a cold winter, the European gas inventory level may drop to a low level of 11%, hitting the bottom line of strategic reserves. If EU countries want to restore gas stocks to 30% by the end of the winter to improve their ability to cope with subsequent cold waves, they will have to cut supply equivalent to 7% of demand, or simply stop supplying gas to consumers.
