Insiders who bought US$2.23m worth of Leef Brands Inc.'s (CSE:LEEF) stock at an average buy price of US$0.27 over the last year may be disappointed by the recent 13% decrease in the stock. Insiders invest with the hopes of seeing their money grow in value over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth US$1.97m, which is not what they expected.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Leef Brands

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when CEO, President & Chairman Micah Anderson bought CA$1.4m worth of shares at a price of CA$0.25 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of CA$0.23. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.
