Even though Rusoro Mining Ltd. (CVE:RML) has fallen by 12% over the past week , insiders who sold US$21m worth of stock over the past year have had less luck. Insiders might have been better off holding onto their shares, given that the average selling price of US$1.23 is still below the current share price.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Rusoro Mining Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent purchase by Independent Director Anthony Beruschi was not the only time they traded Rusoro Mining shares this year. Earlier in the year, they sold shares at a price ofCA$1.25 per share in a -CA$8.7m transaction. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is CA$1.09. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

In the last twelve months insiders purchased 629.70k shares for CA$650k. But they sold 16.78m shares for CA$21m. All up, insiders sold more shares in Rusoro Mining than they bought, over the last year.
