Eurozone's Flash Annual Inflation Rate Rises to 3.8% in September

05:11 AM EDT, 10/02/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Annual inflation in the euro area rose to 3.8% in September from 3.2% in August, according to Eurostat flash estimates released Friday. The latest reading is above the consensus estimate of 3.7%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices were 0.6% higher. Excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, the annual inflation rate stood at 2.5%, matching expectations, against 2.4% in the previous month. Month over month, core consumer prices edged up 0.2%.
