JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), headquartered in New York, provides financial and retail banking services. Valued at $911.9 billion by market cap, the company provides services such as investment banking, treasury and securities, asset management, private banking, card member, commercial banking, and home finance. The investment banking leader is expected to announce its fiscal third-quarter earnings for 2026 before the market opens on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Ahead of the event, analysts expect JPMorgan Chase to report a profit of $5.84 per share on a diluted basis, up 15.2% from $5.07 per share in the year-ago quarter. The company has consistently surpassed Wall Street’s EPS estimates in its last four quarterly reports.

For the full year, analysts expect JPMorgan Chase to report EPS of $24.29, up 19.4% from $20.34 in fiscal 2025. Its EPS is expected to rise 3.6% year over year to $25.17 in fiscal 2027.

JPM stock has underperformed the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) 15.7% gains over the past 52 weeks, with shares up 2.3% during this period. However, it outperformed the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF’s (XLF) marginal gains over the same time frame.

JPM’s operational performance has reflected an interplay between strong revenue momentum and persistent margin pressures. Top-line results have been supported by robust trading activity, expanding market share in investment banking, and resilient fee income from asset management, but these gains have been weighed down by shrinking net interest margins from higher funding costs, increased credit loss reserves to cover consumer card delinquencies, and substantial ongoing capital investments in technology and physical branch expansion.

Analysts’ consensus opinion on JPM stock is reasonably bullish, with a “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Out of 25 analysts covering the stock, 11 advise a “Strong Buy” rating, two suggest a “Moderate Buy,” and 12 give a “Hold.” JPM’s average analyst price target is $371, indicating a potential upside of 10.2% from the current levels.
