Shell Affiliate Finalizes Investment Decision on Canadian LNG JV

03:53 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS) affiliate Shell Canada Energy made a final investment decision for the second phase of the LNG Canada joint venture in Kitimat, British Columbia. The second phase will see two LNG processing trains added to the project, boosting the production capacity to 28 million tonnes per annum from 14 million tonnes per annum, the oil and gas giant said Tuesday. Shell will receive nearly an additional 6 million tonnes of LNG per annum after the expanded project starts commercial operations in the early 2030s. Shell has a 40% stake in the joint venture. Other members of LNG Canada are Petronas, PetroChina Co., Mitsubishi, and Korea Gas Corp.
