Ion Beam Applications Wins Contract for Proton Therapy Center in Italy

02:04 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Ion Beam Applications (IBAB.BR) agreed to install the first gantry-based proton therapy center in central and southern Italy. The particle accelerator technology company said Tuesday that the gantry-based proton therapy system will be developed in partnership with Cecchini SRL and Gowen SRL, construction companies and Temporary Grouping of Companies members. The Istituti Fisioterapici Ospitalieri & Istituto Nazionale Tumori Regina Elena, or IFO, is commissioning the project, with patient treatments expected to begin in 2030.
