Moody's Changes Alpha Bank's Outlook to Positive After Greece Outlook Revision

12:41 AM EDT, 09/29/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Moody's revised its outlook on Alpha Bank (ALPHA.AT) to positive from stable, reflecting the likelihood of an upgrade over the next 12 months to 18 months depending on an upgrade of Greece's sovereign rating. The rating agency said Monday the revision aligns with its recent upgrade of the Government of Greece to positive. It noted the deposit ratings could be downgraded if a deterioration in the bank's credit profile pressures its baseline credit assessment, or if the volume of loss-absorbing liabilities protecting depositors in a failure scenario declines. Moody's also affirmed Alpha Bank's Baa1 long-term local- and foreign-currency deposit ratings, citing its very low loss given failure and low probability of government support, which adds no uplift.
