- Deutsche Bank analyst Daniel Ghali said in an email report that copper prices are expected to rise to $22,050 per ton by the second quarter of 2027 as buyers compete to lock in supply in a “historic metal battle.” Instantly available inventories have fallen to an “unprecedented low”, and the main line of the copper market is also “shifting from a boom in demand to a liquidity crisis.” Ghali expects copper prices to rise by around 50%. He said that the global copper market can no longer withstand the current rate of US stockpiling, any obvious interruption in the supply of refined copper, or unexpectedly tight balance between global supply and demand. He expects the average price of copper to be $20,900 per ton in 2027 and $18,500 in 2028.
