US Seeks to Intervene in Elon Musk's Legal Battle Against EU Fine on X

01:32 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The Trump administration formally sought to join the legal challenge filed by billionaire Elon Musk to dismiss the 120 million-euro fine imposed by the European Commission on social media company X. The US Department of Justice said Thursday it filed an application with the EU's General Court supporting X's bid to annul the fine imposed December 2025 over multiple breaches of the bloc's Digital Services Act. The department's civil division said the European regulator "inappropriately attempted to expand its authority" to American companies. The European Commission and X did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
