Soybeans Slipping Lower on Thursday, with Sluggish Export Sales

Soybeans are down 5 to 7 cents so far on Thursday. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price ius down 5 1/4 cents at $12.54 1/2. Soymeal futures are up 40 cents to $4.40 led by October, with Soy Oil down 55 to 60 points.

Traders continue to monitor the US/China meeting today, though nothing has been released and trade related news. Secretary Bessent has stated this week that the two countries are extending the trade truce for 2 months. 

USDA reported a private export sale of 120,000 MT of soybeans to China this morning for 2026/27.

Export Sales data from USDA was out this morning, coming in well below analysts’ estimates of 1.5 to 2 MMT for the week of September 17 at just 582,432 MT. That was a 12-week low for total sales and 19.6% below the same week last year.

Bean meal sales totaled 60,667 MT for the current marketing year, with 2026/27 sakes at 245,984 MT, vs the estimated total range of 250,000 to 375,000 MT. Bean oil sales were at 1,631 MT for 2025/26 and 86 MT for 2026/27, compared to estimates of net reductions of 2,000 MT and net sales of 6,500 MT.
