State Administration of Foreign Exchange: In August, China's foreign exchange market traded a total of RMB 26.28 trillion

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on September 24, statistics from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange showed that in August 2026, the Chinese foreign exchange market (excluding foreign currency pairs, same below) traded a total of 26.28 trillion yuan (equivalent to 3.87 trillion US dollars). Among them, bank-to-customer market transactions amounted to 4.30 trillion yuan (equivalent to 0.63 trillion US dollars), interbank market transactions amounted to 21.99 trillion yuan (equivalent to 3.24 trillion US dollars); cumulative spot market transactions amounted to 7.66 trillion yuan (equivalent to 1.13 trillion US dollars), and derivatives market transactions totaled 18.62 trillion yuan (equivalent to 2.74 trillion US dollars).

From January to August 2026, China's foreign exchange market traded a total of 207.46 trillion yuan (equivalent to 30.21 trillion US dollars).
