The Zhitong Finance App learned that Grok Bot, an AI agent product launched by SpaceX (SPCX.US)'s AI division, surpassed 400,000 users in a week about a month after launch, indicating that early demand for the product was moderate, and this product was the key for Elon Musk to achieve its AI ambitions.
According to a presentation published at an event in London and participants, as of September 14, the number of weekly users of Grok Bot reached 418,000, an increase of 24% over the previous week. The latest user data for this product is currently unavailable. This proxy product is different from SpaceXAI's flagship chatbot, Grok.
SpaceXAI launched the Grok Bot in mid-August to catch up with Anthropic PBC and OpenAI in the growing AI agent market. Grok Bot is designed more like a 24/7 employee than a chatbot. It can respond to emails, update sales databases, process invoices, organize work, or submit software bugs.
After Meta Platforms' (META.US) Muse topped Apple's free apps list, Wall Street this week is looking at the market potential of AI agents. The early popularity of Muse made analysts compare it to OpenAI's instant popularity of ChatGPT at the end of 2022.
Meta's Muse is more consumer focused and is free to download. In contrast, SpaceXAI positions the Grok Bot as an enterprise tool, bundling it with different levels of AI subscription plans, and also being used as a standalone app. According to the data, Muse downloads are four times that of Grok Bot.
Over the past three months, SpaceXAI has been actively seizing positions in the AI field. After completing the $60 billion acquisition of AI programming startup Cursor, the company advanced the release of models and proxy products. In July, the company released Grok 4.5, a model focused on programming, finance, and legal tasks that cost less to use than other competitive software. Earlier this week, SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.7, designed to be able to handle more challenging missions over a longer period of time.
