Key takeaways
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On World Alzheimer's Day, Edward Jones recognizes more than a decade of collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association® to advance research, expand care, support resources and raise awareness for millions of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Addressing today's reality
The Alzheimer's Association 2026 Facts and Figures Report states today more than seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and by 2050, this number is projected to rise by nearly double. This is a pressing reminder of the critical need for organizations to band together in the fight for an end to the disease.
"The work this alliance is responsible for is even more critical today than it was just 10 years ago. Alzheimer's disease is an incredibly disruptive force to long-term life and financial planning," said Ken Cella, head of External Affairs at Edward Jones. "The funds and awareness we collectively raise are critical to advancing research and supporting families affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias while helping ease the burden carried by millions of caregivers."
Advancing Alzheimer's research
Nearly $12 million of the $63 million raised has funded groundbreaking research, accelerating scientific breakthroughs and advancing understanding of the disease. This focus supports the Alzheimer's Association® mission and reflects Edward Jones' commitment to healthier futures for the communities it serves and the estimated 300,000 clients, colleagues and family members – affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. Key highlights include:
"Advancements against Alzheimer's do not happen alone," said Donna McCullough, chief operating officer, Alzheimer's Association®. "Edward Jones' support is helping drive unprecedented advances in research and treatments while also accelerating our understanding of brain health and the steps people can take to reduce risk. Together, these efforts are making a profound impact on the more than seven million Americans living with Alzheimer's today as well as their caregivers. We are deeply grateful to have such a fierce and passionate champion in our corner as we fight for a future without Alzheimer's."
Supporting our caregivers
In 2025, nearly 13 million Americans provided unpaid care for a family member or loved one with dementia. This care is valued at $446.3 billion. The total lifetime cost of care for a person living with dementia was estimated at $405,262 in 2024. Unburdening caregivers remains a critical initiative for the firm.
In addition to research, the strategic alliance has bolstered people's ability to care for family members, including:
"Caregiving is one of the defining socioeconomic challenges of our time, and Alzheimer's and other dementias put extraordinary emotional, physical and financial strain on millions of families," said Andy Blocker, Edward Jones, head of Policy, Regulation, and Government Relations. "Family caregivers are the foundation of Alzheimer's care, yet too often they don't receive the support they need. As an extension of our work with the Alzheimer's Association®, we're championing policies and strengthening resources caregivers need to care for their loved ones without jeopardizing their own finances and well-being."
Fundraising and walking to end Alzheimer's
In addition to the work across research, advocacy and care, Edward Jones has the honor of serving as the National Presenting Sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer's®.
This past spring, Edward Jones' associates throughout the country sponsored local Alzheimer's Association® chapter galas, in addition to the firm's corporate sponsorship of the St. Louis Beacon of Hope and the Phoenix Era of Hope galas. These combined efforts with the community, work to advance critical Alzheimer's research, expand care resources and strengthen education initiatives.
These events led to the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research: the Alzheimer's Association® Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Fundraising is well underway, with Edward Jones' Diamond National Team already surpassing $2 million and registering 6,000 participants en route to its $3.75 million annual goal.
