Lean hog futures are posting 57 cent to $1.55 losses across the front months on Tuesday. USDA’s national base hog price was reported at $85.11 on Tuesday morning, down $1.28. The CME Lean Hog Index was down another 73 cents on September 11 at $87.21.
USDA’s pork carcass cutout value was down $1.02 in the Tuesday AM report, at $88.76. The ham was the only primal reported higher. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was estimated at 492,000 head for Monday. That was 5,841 head above the same week last year.
